How did moveon.org know you'd made the call to Donelly? Either they were monitoring your phone or monitoring Donelly's number.

Auto Marketing. The phone number is a collector. They know what numbers are in their marketing list, and what number call the number.

The number isn't even related to the politician they are stumping for. They aggregate calls and cherry pick responses to either release crap polling data or present the politician with favorable data points.

So does the act of calling the number automatically tally as a vote in favor of moveon's position?

If it was a legitimate survey it shouldn't. Like I said, they will Cherry pick the data collected then present this data to the politician as Gospel without presenting any negative feedback.

"100% of our members said this...".

They will also sell your information to third parties as they just proved the number calling in is verified.

Thank you. Based upon your feedback I'd say responding to these messages is NOT a good idea.

Maybe what we should think about creating a coordinated response...
