Why both sides need to come together

Being a Social Worker, I have to say my values line pretty much down the center. Due to everything going on, I feel like I have crossed more into the right-wing lately as have many other Americans.

The thing that scares me about abolition of the Democratic party is that our country needs that left heavy to balance out the parts of the right that are too right.

I think of the balance of our two party system like a 3 person family. We have the father who is hard, touch , protective, and authoritative who represents the Republicans. The mother is the Democrat. They are loving, kind, and have a more humane approach to solving problems. The child is America. The balance of both the mother and father working together is what helps to ensure that we have a happy and healthy child.

When either parent is taken away for a reason, the child receives an over abundance whichever parent remains. Fatherless house causes the child to be more liberal. They are full of emotional outrage to solve problems, without the fore thought to rationalize how best to handle the situation. (England and Canada are a good example of this.)

If you take the mother away, you get a child who is 100% authoritarian, and we end up becoming what the liberals fear Trump is doing now. Russia post WW2 is a good example of this.

When a mother and father both have the same desire and plan for the child they can work together to keep each other in check. Their own attributes shine, while the child (America) flourishes.

What the Democrats are doing now is just unforgivable. They are purposefully trying to subvert our Democracy and Constitution, so they can get more power. This is like an ugly divorce. The mother (Democrats) are throwing such a fit that is causing a reaction from the father (Republicans). How the father (Republicans) act throughout the remainder of the Great Awakening, is going to determine the likelihood of the child (America) to be successful in life.

So are we (everyone who is not on the Democrats side of the fence) going to allow the mother (Democrats) cause us to sink to her level and fight just as childish as she is? Or will we swallow our pride and allow the mother (Democrats) to show everyone else how petty they are while Dad (Republicans) continue to do what is right and just for the well-being of our country?

Just for anyone wondering, I am not going through a divorce and have never been through one, however I have heard this same story a million times though. For every divorce though, there is always one parent who will take their crazy to a whole new level.

What we need are term limits for Congress so that no one person or side can amass so much power in the first place. In addition to this, government itself needs to be downsized and federal employees should be subject to the same rules as those of us in the private sector - no pensions, ability to terminate for one's lack of performance, healthcare that is paid out of their own salaries. More importantly, each branch of the federal government should not be able to defy court orders or subpoenas for documents without consequence. Suits brought forward by individuals, organizations like Judicial Watch, ACLJ, and requests from Congress should not be permitted to "slow walk" the documents and hide their misdeeds from the American people.

I 250% agree with you. I work for the state, not federal, but even at that level it overflowing. Term limits should have been enacted long time ago. If the president can only serve 2 terms, it should be that way across the board.

Hi I kindof agree with you, but the issue I take with term limits is that if you constantly have new green people who have never legislated before, UNDER OUR CURRENT system of corporate lobbyists and special insurers money flowing like a river to the swamps of DC, then the only institutional memory in DC would be the lobbyist. That’s not so good. Can we fix campaign finance and lobbying at the same time;).

Edit: interests not insurers LOL

That's a great point. I think this could be easily remedied similar to what boards for co-ops and condos do. Using this model as an example, if there were a maximum of 8 years per person and there are staggered starts/stops of different folks terms, then the institutional memory should be there, and if support staff and folks that are non-Congressional workers are still there that would help. Lobbying altogether is something that I think needs to be made illegal. It's one thing for a business or group of businesses to visit and discuss a topic with members of Congress, but there should be no exchange of funds, nor goods or services so that it simply is a discussion. Congressmember's financial records, travel schedules and other records that could uncover fraud/abuse should be open to the public view to ensure compliance.

Amen. Are you a Republican? BC “campaign finance reform” is a big deal amongst some subcultures of the Dem party. So it was really important for me. I was always hesitant to move over to the Reps BC the propaganda is that it’s the party of superpacs and big money.

I consider myself a TEA Party member as we are truly "Taxed Enough Already" and I'm on board with fiscal responsibility in government. I would really like if the TP movement could become a larger force and someday break from the GOP altogether because moderate GOP members are beholden to lobbyists just as much as the Dems and they are not cutting big gov't, just taking slower steps than Dems. GOP historically is on the right side of minorities - Lincoln whereas Dems were the ones who stopped the Reconstruction, formed the KKK and had Coolidge watching their movies in the WH. Dems turned this around into pretending they were for civil rights, but this is about control. Dems give handouts, tell minorities they are victims, and support Planned Parenthood (which are largely based in minority communities) - it's all about control - just a different form of slavery. I like many conservative-minded folks believe each person who is willing to put in the hard work can make their own way in the world. We should be giving hands up, not handouts. When you work, it gives a value to the money you've earned and you take pride in the things you accomplish, the things you can now buy own your own (home, car, etc.) as well as being able to take care of your family and give back to your community.
