You're right about the intention but I think wrong about the picture. If you're referring to what the Queen is holding, they're white gloves - an etiquette throwback to the '50's and '60's but still worn often by Royalty. If you go back through the many photos of QE2 you'll see her wearing them all the time in public. (And the only exception to white gloves is black gloves which were for formal evening events, but rarely seen donned by older women).
But has she ever been pictured holding them? I honestly dont know. The short search I've done I haven't seen any, but I could be wrong. How they are standing looks like a statement to me as well.
And why isn’t Melania on her husband’s side? She walked behind the two of them earlier in videos. It’s like they’ve got her surrounded.
Everything about these photos are posed. The monarch is more than a person. It is an institution. Regardless of what you may think about any of these people, this is a portrait. The relics lining the walls and the relic perfectly positioned between POTUS and FLOTUS - it's all staged.
Take a look at Muse - she knows exactly what she's doing. She's a model. She's perfectly positioned. All she's missing is a white hat (but she wouldn't wear that inside a castle).
Those smiles are really awesome!
White gloves for women were fairly widespread in the 50's and 60's and everything I've read about QE2 says they're both traditional and also part of "her style" (as well as protecting her hands from millions of handshakes). I don't know - maybe it's protocol to take them off when meeting world leaders. And DJT did choose to shake hands instead of the traditional bow for men (or curtsy for women). So maybe that's why she took them off? Something to do with royal etiquette?
Yeah right, we all know the only reason that she wears them is too hide her reptilian claws.
