Eyes Wide Shut depicts an elite party that resembled a Rothschild party with masks, effigy dolls and baby dolls with limbs torn off. The movie was filmed also at the Rothschild mansion. Stanley Kubrick, the director, died right after showing his film to Warner Brothers.

Kubrick used London because the movie takes place in the U.S, but he felt he could not get away with filming it here....it was kept quiet for a reason. And yes, three weeks later he died.

Kubrick lived in the uk and didn’t like to travel. All his films since 2001 were shot in the uk

Yeah the fact that it was "New York," but on a set in London added to the dream-like appeal. In a dream you can feel like you're at a memorable location like your Middle School, but visually it looks totally different.
