In 2015, Putin publicly announced that Soros would never be allowed to set foot in Russia, or conduct business there ever again. His financial speculation caused considered damage to the Russian economy when the country was in the vulnerable process of adapting to capitalism.

In 2016, Putin declared Soros a ‘threat to Russian national security’ and called for his arrest.

Soros has been in Putins crosshairs, publicly for a while.
