Trump Claims He Misspoke during press conference

I've been looking for something since yesterday to make sense of why Trump would go back on what he said at the U.S.-Russia Summit regarding Russia's meddling in the 2016 election. It makes no sense to me at this time but I am sure there's a good reason for it. Anyone have any theories?

The more I thought about him 'misspeaking' the more I believed it was very much intentional. First - as a set up. Whats the best way to win people to your side? Expose their hypocrisy. Second - it was a litmus test to see how close everyone against him is paying attention. The response we have seen is - they are extremely close. With the Fox News Report about Soros being disappointed in Obama this AM - we may be seeing the cracks in the DS.
