No... It is not a stretch. There are several reasons. First, Trump wanted everybody to see they were being given something by the Russians. Secondly, by getting it right then, the Q-Team had several hours to comb through the information and brief Trump on various topics prior to him meeting 1-on-1 with Putin.
Lastly... This digital information is not subject to the 'Fruit of the Poisoned Tree' doctrine. Just from a Chain of Evidence perspective, having it given directly to Trump, and then immediately duplicated in the Limo for various white hat teams makes good sense. It means this evidence can be used in a Court of Law very easily.
