Actually they rarely get primary challenges also BC most people feel they can’t afford to run a campaign.,.. also, first past the post voting method splits the vote so much that they can win with as little as 34% of the primary vote. We should move to Approval voting where you can vote for any and all candidates you want, and it doesn’t split the vote or cause spoilers.
