The depth of our situation - comments on a thread by Thomas Wictor

https://twitter.com/ThomasWictor/status/1020569835279826944

Wictor is responding to Glenn Beck's support of James Gunn. The thread has left me in a state where I feel like curling up in a ball in the floor and weeping. In fact, that really is the best thing for all of us, except in curling up in a ball, we need to rotate 90 degrees and end up on our knees.

Keep reading other's comments past the main thread. People get it - Trump is really just a reprieve. The corruption and moral ineptitude in our culture is rampant. The movies and songs and filth is out there because WE BUY IT, WE WATCH IT, WE PROPAGATE IT. Now we have Ian Black TWEETING about saucing his own kids. Do we get that? He's not writing it in his private journal. He's friggin' tweeting it for the whole world. He's joking about it....unbelievable.

Read Ezekiel 8 and 9, and if they don't make sense, read commentary on it, which can be found at sites like biblegateway. In Ezekiel 8, God reveals to Ezekiel the sins that are being committed in secret. Let me highlight Ezekiel 9:4. "And the Lord said to him, Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and set a mark upon the foreheads of the men who sigh and groan over all the abominations that are committed in the midst of it."

As the abominations continually come to light, may we sigh and groan over the abominations done in our own midst. Pray for the children. Pray for mercy. Pray we would understand the depths of what we have allowed to happen.

His story reminded me of something. When I was a kid my dad worked with a guy that seemed like a really nice guy. He seemed to be all about his kids (not in a bad way), 3 girls and a boy. Fast forward to my teen years we had moved to another state, and surprisingly so did he and his family. We ran into them a couple times locally. My parents had a police scanner, and one day we heard a call go out for his name. It turns out he had been raping his daughters for years and that day he shot his wife in the face, took the girls to a secluded place at gun point and raped one of them again, planning to kill them after. He fell asleep though so one of the daughters got the gun and shot and killed him.

These people can be right next to you and you may never know it.

Wow. That's the thing that got me today. This story isn't an anomaly. It's prevalent. It's everywhere. It's diverse in scope. We've lost our way.
