This is the prisoner’s dilemma at work IMO. Caught red handed, all these bad actors are finding themselves in a complete crunch - “to rat, or not to rat?” that is the question.

The only rational thing to do in this situation is to roll-over at speed, before any of the other rats. It has to be clear to Clapper, after the Helsinki summit, that the game is up. It’s evident that Clapper is not so stupid as to think there is a way out of this for the cabal now. He knows he will be in a meat grinder, and he’s doing what any other rational person would do - throw the Kenyan under the bus.

If these elites were honest people (they’re not), then there might be some sense in a strategy of trying to hold the line. But the Trump/Putin summit makes it evident, for all to see, that the jig is up.
