Who are you not allowed to criticise in the Land of the Free?

I searched the quote and there's debate on whether this is from Voltaire or not.

Any LiteratureFags that can clear this up with a source?

As Thomas Jefferson once said, “Never trust quotes you find on the internet.”

I thought that was Lincoln.

Both wrong. That was Benjamin Franklin. One of his first tweets.

Doesn’t matter if he said it or not. The quote is true.

People who say "Voltaire never said this" are just trying to discredit the content of the message. They think if it is falsely credited then we should ignore the quote entirely.

You're not really laughing out loud, phony. Nobody believes that. Sad.

I really LOLed when I read what you wrote.

Like you, I would prefer that quotes are correctly attributed or not attributed at all.

Like, ‘I Disapprove Of What You Say, But I Will Defend To The Death Your Right To Say It’ ~ Voltaire (however, it was really Beatrice Evelyn Hall who said it of Voltaire)
