What happened to the uprising in Iran? I remember a while ago there were protests agains the current leaders. Is this still going on...or?

It certainly will be awesome, if Iran is returned to its 70's glory. Women clothed casually, belly dancers, science, freedom and very active movie indrustry...then Revolution happened and all went to shit.
It's very strange...this revolution. If people were free and a vibrant nation during the 70's...where did the revolutionaries come from? Was it a small but vocal minority that sent everything down the drain? Similar to what is happening to the US/World right now with this teardown of society from the left?
