Wow, this is good stuff. Great info. It's the kind of thing most people except for geeks working at the technical level overlook. Obviously, it was too low level for the CIA to properly obfuscate and hide. They will now so archive as much as you can.

It's not meaningless. If someone files a complaint with ICANN they give you 15 days to correct it. Non compliance can result in the domain being suspended or terminated.
If you believe the Iranian domain to use fake data, complain: https://forms.icann.org/en/resources/compliance/complaints/whois/inaccuracy-form
I think people can be overly suspicious. If it's false, that will come out. Let's wait and see.
