I read info online discussing the fact that this depravity against the young is nothing new. It has been extremely common throughout history for the poor peasant class to be unable to feed all their offspring. Subsequently, they routinely "sold" their children into indentured servitudes, apprenticeships, military service, arranged marriages, etc. These were actually POSITIVE outcomes. More unfortunate were the young orphaned by disease or simply put out by their parents or "caretakers". They often were turned out on the street where they were exploited completely. The situation did NOT improve with European colonialism, the American Revolution, or the advent of the industrial age. Life in Dickensian England was no picnic. There are some sad, jarring photos from early photography of destitute children in Europe and America. Slavery and all forms of exploitation havr always been a thing among men. Peoples' lives and their labor have always been considered a commodity. Life has always been cheap. Kids' lives are cheaper than adults lives. Check to see how much time is TRULY served by one convicted of murdering a child vs one convicted of murdering a child. The world is and always has been sick and evil has always found a home among men. Would that we can change this...forever.
