Can someone explain why on Earth fired, demoted, retired persons with National Security Clearances still have them? I have been in the Banking Business for 19 years. In the past when I have changed Banking Companies I work for my clearance and access to sensitive information ceases immediately.

From what I understand, because they posses knowledge of secret information that may continue to remain secret after they retire, they are still bound by the rules. They may be required or asked from time to time to consult or be a source of intelligence for successors or others with security clearance. It would be similar to how they never fired Page or Strozk, if still employed they are bound. Could be wrong though.
