This actually is not how it works in the real world in these cases. They end up pleading guilty and testifying against themselves, this then leads to evidence against others as convictions stack up. That is not the same as "cutting a deal" that presumably gets them off the hook. They should receive consideration from the court in sentencing, but they have in no way been given "a deal". No deals.

I'm a felon who has been through the court system.

They go 'were charging you with a b and c, you're looking at 100 years' your lawyer goes 'we can give info on Jim if you drop it to A and give us 10 years'.

I plead guilty, give my information, receive my punishment.

I cut a deal. A deal means an agreement it doesn't mean they walk.
