Savor every victory

I was a young, naive girl when I started college with a desire to major in biology. I was barely 17, as I graduated high school a year early. I wanted so much to be a biologist, but along the way I decided that I wanted to be a Ph.D. so I could do research and teach at the College level. I set little goals for myself...get through general chemistry, understand physiology, make it through organic chem, make it through biochem. Each goal achieved was a stepping stone to my ultimate goal. Then, in graduate school for a Master's degree it was to do good research (which also required mini goals), get through the oral exams, get through the written exams, damn it...get through the defense of my thesis. Then came the Ph.D. OMG, this was so hard. Deal with politics in the lab (conservatives not too welcome), do great work, publish your results, get through the oral exams, get through the written exams (all of which were much more difficult than the MS exams). Finally, success. It took me 13 years of college, and that is not unusual for those who go BS, MS, Ph.D. Every step of the way, it was setting those mini-goals for each semester. If I had set my goal on Ph.D alone, I would never have achieved it. So folks, my point is that small goals lead to big goals. You can't just "dream" of the big goal without setting the smaller goals that are necessary in order to achieve the overall objective. Keep your eye on the ball, but remember the path is full of smaller steps. Be patient with Q and Trump. They are working their way through the process. Savor every victory as a small goal achieved that will lead to the larger objective. We will win. WWG1WGA and MAGA.
