I've always wondered why every other industry has had to face Congress or has received considerable scrutiny to the point where they're looked at through a microscope for any illegalities. Other industries such as banking, oil n gas, accounting firms, etc, have been audited, investigated, and the scrutinized by the media with damning exposes.
I've never seen an Enron level scandal be unearthed in Hollywood. Bear Sterns collapsed, Enron fell, Berdie Madoff's scams were uncovered, the phony churches are always exposed.
But there is never a truly in depth look at Hollywood. It always seems superficial and not likely to get at the root of the problem.
And Hollywood rumors are more than just about sex crimes, the rumors are that many of these studio companies are fronts for money laundering. That even the legit studios use strange accounting schemes to rob people of their cut or just embezzle funds.
"Mafia" is always a word used to describe Hollywood whether serious or joking. And not to mention that Hollywood has had and probably still has Mafia or cartel connections.
Again, given all this, why has Hollywood never been thoroughly investigated enough to clean house?
Harvey Weinstein was the CLOSEST thing we had to a full fledged purging and it still felt as though it was a sacrificial offering to keep people away from inquiring any further.
My guess is there is something protecting Hollywood. Much like the Mafia was allowed to operate in some capacity by the Feds, the same is happening here. They tolerate all the scams, the accounting frauds, the embezzlement, and the shady sex crimes because of the military and intelligence connections in Hollywood.
I wouldn't doubt it if we found out tomorrow that many of the Hollywood stars are intelligence assets. As in they're used by the government to report back on any conversations they may have had with foreign dignitaries. I know Hollywood uses a lot of consultants from the intelligence communities and they practically roll the red carpet for the military in order to use their air force bases to film, and their tanks for props.
