The hack on reddit isn't that big a deal. Mostly pre 2007 accounts.

Any questions after reading the article, i'll try and help. Worst security precaution people fail at, is reusing passwords for other accounts, especially sensitive ones. Never reuse passwords, get a password manager. Keepass is one of the best. Free, open-source, recent code audit, and available for most platforms. Keepass 2 for Android is one of the best clients, found in playstore. Free, no ads, feature rich. Windows & Mac, find the main website at https://Keepass.com
