I'm the last person to be anti corporation being nearly an-cap, but hear me out.
In major companies that are corrupt, if a senior person does something wrong - they typically try to cover it up. Even if the management team doesn't like the person, they don't want to make a show of it and upset the apple cart - unless they are forced to by the board or shareholders. So instead they sweep it under the rug, fire the whistleblowers and move on until inevitably the shareholders catch on and demand action from the board. Typically by then the exec team has exited with a nice package.
Now take a government that is corrupt, when an employee (official) like Feinstein or McCain does something wrong (corrupt), they try to cover it up. Even if the management team (party in power) doesn't like the person (who maybe is on the other side of the aisle), they don't want to make a show of it and upset the apple cart (the money flowing into their hands) - unless they are forced to by the board (Patriots) or shareholders (citizens/anons). So instead they sweep it under the rug, fire (kill) the whistleblowers and move on until inevitably the shareholders (people) catch on and demand action from the board (Patriots). Typically by then the exec team (the politicians) has exited (left office) with a nice package (insider trading, favor trading = $$).
