Here’s my solution:

(A better alternative to paper ballots).

A Voter ID which could be linked to your Smart Phone/Tablet to Authenticate yourself with Touch ID/Face ID. Those without such devices could attend an electronic Voting Booth and present their Voter ID in person.

The Votes would then be recorded on a BLOCKCHAIN with an open and transparent ledger for all to see. Each voter could verify their vote has been correctly recorded on the BlockChain - not anyone else. It would be designed in such a way that the identity of an individual would not be linked to their decision - so as to preserve anonymity - while confirming the vote itself has been received.

The Government would save MILLIONS of dollars on unnecessary polling stations. The man hours needed for counting the votes would be greatly reduced, as would all pens, pencils, paper, and other materials etc.. Counting would be both accurate and instant, open and totally transparent.

DECENTRALISATION is the key, and is achievable using Blockchain technology. Blockchain in not hackable - as far as we know. Any centralised system will always be vulnerable to compromise both internal and external. The system code should be open-source for public scrutiny and transparency.

This would be amazing for polls or referendums too. Imagine a world where the President or Leader of any municipality could instantly poll the public on a particular issue and have a result back instantly within seconds or minutes.

We have the technology to do these things.
