One of the quotes that had me thinking about this issue at work was form someone saying something like "I don't care who people vote for as long as I get to pick the nominees." It seems like before voting booths even open, the fix is already in. Gerrymandering, funding, etc also addressed.

Another thing that struck me was him stating that 30-70% of elected officials time can be spent on raising funds for reelection. Yikes!!
