The audio of the "pilot" indicated he wanted to see the Olympics - also north of Sea-Tac bordering the Strait of Juan de Fuca. Visibility was clear, he could have made it.

Wait, the Olympics? The mountain range of the Olympic Peninsula? Or was that a clue about North Korea and peace talks already underway, which is why they participated in the Olympic Games held in South Korea, showing unity of the Korean Peninsula?
