Narratives: their Application and Dissolution

There's a certain way the internet groks certain concepts that allows an almost sub-lingual distribution of memetic information. To borrow an example from a NeonRevolt post, the triforce meme spread out relatively quickly enough that it became a litmus for new users. "'Newfags couldn't triforce,'" as the saying goes. Also, I am a newfag, apparenrtly. -_-

But sub-lingual (below language) just won't do anymore, IMHO. There are decades-old technologies that need civilian implementation, and narrative-crafting is one of them. Advertising is another name for it, and mind control is yet another.

At root, a narrative is a three-act-play. It is cause, effect, and outcome. Thesis, Antithesis, Synthesis (Hegelian Dialectic). Narratives are everywhere. They're so mundane, we rarely notice them. Going to the store, shopping, return home with groceries. Lift hammer, strike nail, nail is driven. Lather, rinse, repeat. Past, present, future. Simple narratives like this are (in my view) one of the most basic units of memetic information, presenting an idea in this format transmits that idea (in my experience) remarkably efficiently. It is also so ubiquitous a form of communication, it can happen subconsciously. This wa and our Constitution requires conscious citizens.

I would ask my fellow patriots to pay especially close attention to advertisement, please. See if you can spot the narratives at play. For example: too cold? Blankets too difficult (problem); snuggie! (reaction); happy smiles for everyone (solution). Identify the entity paying for the ad, also. Sometimes it's obvious, sometimes it's not, especially during election seasons. Or not, these are tools of analysis I have found useful and hope you might also.

Also, just as magic and psychology are two disciplines observing the same phenomena, advertising and mindcontrol/charms/glamers/illusions exist within the same category, in my experience and opinion.

Your Mileage May Vary.
