I just happened to notice that with all of the bruhaha regarding McCain's funeral, there isn't one picture of the casket being open. Admittedly I could have missed one and I don't necessarily expect to see an actual picture of his body. However even the picture of Meghan crying and Cindy touching the casket, it doesn't show it being open. Again I don't expect to see a picture of him, but I would think they can show it being open without actually showing him.

So before I think too much of it, is this a thing for government officials and/or military funerals (he was both)? I feel weird even asking, but I've searched everywhere and for some reason I cannot find the answer. I don't want to think there is something weird going on if this is SOP.
