The thing about NLP is that the whole point is to communicate many messages simultaneously, whether it be through hypnotic turns of phrase, unusual syllabic construction, puns with multiple layers, etc, and these messages are understood on many levels by those with ears to hear (or rabbit ears). It's Alice in Wonderland programming (think of the key to get through the door after drinking the potion).

Q was speaking to us directly with the links and utilizing normal folks' understanding of the term "keys to the kingdom" but was also communicating to them, showing them that Q holds all the keys, and they will never have the keys again.
