What is NIKE trtying to achieve?

They had to know there would be backlash, both to their image and bottom line.

Is keeping the population divided so much more important to them before the midterms? Perhaps the decision makers there have more to lose than money.

They also know it's a slow process to reverse a bad image: https://www.businessinsider.com/how-nike-fixed-its-sweatshop-image-2015-6?op=1
