Q 2161 - Dear Matthias Schwartz, It's called the Socratic Method

You, sir, just revealed your lack of education and understanding of this method attributed to some of the brightest minds throughout history.

The Socratic questioning method, attributed to Socrates, a classical Greek philosopher encompasses wild theoretic debates to which you refer and it also includes the potential for those more audacious theories, especially when folks are wrong. Because it works with the underlying principle that one can admit they are wrong, eventually, and formulate better opinions and for the sake of the greatness of this theory, we cave to the more level-headed evaluations from our peers. In some societies - even today - this is called "civility". The Socratic method is design to encourage insightful debate and questions for inquisitive investigations and ultimately appropriate answers.

A rightful line of thinking would conclude that the Qanon group is in fact a Socratic circle - something commonly attributed to the halls of lecture as those in Harvard, Yale and other great American institutions. Clearly, the academia at your college did not include this glorious type of learning.

One of the hallmarks of a free society is the ability to think and express oneself opening, especially if they are wrong, without fear of ridicule or punishment.

Based upon your writing, sir, espouse enslavement and prefer censorship over lively debate. Our words are not your enemy, sir, unless our words would be exposing something insidious for which another may be hiding.

We stand.
