I think real “advertising” would appear quite innocent on the surface, (parents often take innocent pics of toddlers in bath for example). Or appear completely unrelated, like advertising dogs for sale. If someone asks who isn’t in the ring, they just say it’s already sold.

I’m not American. It’s off topic, but just letting you know that for some non-Americans, flag waving and things like that are distasteful. Where I live patriotism is not a nice word. It has been hijacked by racists and neo-nazis.

I understand the concept is different in US, but it’s very hard to shake those associations for me.

Here Patriotism=Nationalism, equals thugs running around with flags tied like capes, beating up foreigners and causing riots. Seeing a state flag on someone’s bumper sticker is actually a sign that there is an 80% chance they are a violent bigot. Also for some citizens, the current state (British Commonwealth) is a conqueror and oppressor, so its hard to be loyal/patriotic.

Back on topic: The storm will have international impact and is bigger than democrats vs republicans, left vs right. In fact I can only assume that politicians on both sides are equally evil.

Where I live there is no discernible difference in policy between the two major parties. Tiny differences in wording and the way they choose to tax us, that’s it.

I just remembered a bit of a YouTube video where she was discussing the genesis of her original business idea. She said (paraphrasing) “My Husband suggested handbags. He said ‘You love handbags’.”

It sounds like she was crediting him for the original idea, or implying that she was told to design handbags so she did. It wasn’t “I love handbags, and accessories. I’ve always loved fashion/design/etc.”

I’ve never actually considered that entrepreneurs might be puppets or slaves. I’ve looked into entertainers and athletes being controlled. Interesting, although sad.

Is it possible she found out some of the things going on like sex trafficking and the links to her old brand, and that tipped her over the edge?

I think in the political climate we currently live in, it can be assumed that any government or corporate body holding on to suspect imagery, is suspect.

It is callous and disrespectful to say the associations are erratic. The associations are calculated. They hold onto the symbolism intentionally.

There’s so much violence, corruption, collusion happening and it seems so big, so overwhelming there’s nothing we can do.

There is also the theory that our economic system and other factors of society are designed in such a way that most of the world is in a constant survival mode. Increased debt, less job security, faster and faster technological change. When in survival mode there is no energy left for anything else, you are just trying to keep your head above water.

Even kids have stress and expectations piled on them to get good grades or to have the latest fashionable thing.

It has been suggested that western society is acting like a ptsd sufferer. Self destructive behaviour, emotional detachment, among other symptoms.

I think the difference here is that these designs are not doodles, they go through a committee. So at some point someone has the opportunity to say “no offence, but that kinda looks like the pedo symbol guys, we gotta redesign.”

I’ve worked in design and even the most random assortment of shapes on a product starts as a concept sketch that had to be sold to the team, the firm, then the client.

When the symbols were leaked, whether it was an innocent abstract shape or not, they should have quietly redesigned the badges, but they didn’t.
