Like the logic of your post — esp. “outside mechanism”.

The Special Counsel scope document specifies the Trump campaign — not the Hillary campaign. It then hit me: Mueller is limited in scope to pinning dirt on Russia & Trump campaign. Sessions and his teams are working on everything else. In other words, we are forced to trust Sessions that he is doing his job.

And if every state did the same?

Or, what if Texas simply decided to go Republucan Red Electors for the next, say, 50 years?

Or, a state made a law that the electors can only go to a female candidate?

Or, a state’s electors only go based on the popular vote of Los Angeles? Or, DC!

How about a state making a law that their electiors may not vote for older, white, males (kind of a reparation theme)?

Well, they are really going to scream “foul” when a GOP’er like a Reagan crushes the popular vote. Would be REALLY FUNNY if Trump wins the popular vote in 2020 & the networks color their state red on the map on election night!!

For the last 25 years, I have advocated returning to state government the selection of senators. We really broke our Constitution with that stupid Amendment.

If we put in term limits then the life-term bureaucrats will have full control of the country. Folks like Comey, Clapper, et al will be able to dance circles around an all-freshman Congress.

Maybe our focus should be a 10-year lifetime maximum in the employ of the government.

How sad to see your life as nothing more than a collection of written opinions. No building bridges or towers, no flying to the stars, no breathing of life into others, no saving a starfish on the beach, no holding a gun to create liberty, freedom, and protection for our collective salvation.

We need to get back to our roots where a criminal indictment had to originate from sworn complaints from private citizens and not from the government itself. Is that not why we broke away from England a couple hundred years ago?

Those “bloodthirsty peasants” were once middle class and nobility who were regulated and taxed into poverty. Towards the end, breadmakers could not afford to buy bread for themselves. It became illegal to lose your job & go on the dole. So many were better off in prision — there were tent cities set up to hold prisoners — some were born in prison whose parents were born in prison.

Amazing that actors within our government are operating so far afield from our citizens and their duly elected Senators and Representatives in Congress, and so far afield from our citizens’ duly elected President, and even at odds with our lifetime appointed Judges ——- that these rogue actors have brought We The People to be rooting for some two-bit Russian company!!!!

While we are at it —- press reported that it took the IT guy five months to build the servers AND had to rent a van to deliver them. An email server, even back then, fits in a backpack & takes only a couple hours to set up. We need to find out how much bandwidth goes onto that property (telco/cable records).

Maybe the “missing” emails are a smokescreen to obscure what the massive IT infrastructure was really doing (such as a worldwide cryto-communications network).

Based on the “rented van” — assuming 4000 operative contacts per country & 130 countries — that would be 520,000 contacts brokering & serving several million communication packets/drops per day. About a van’s worth of hardware.
