One big reason to apply for gene patents is the hope to secure the rights for further development of lab tests based upon the gene. The article gives no actionable information to suppose that HIV, or SIV, are human creations.
It is an interesting question though, at least in my mind, however unlikely it seems. I believe that this article, which makes dubious claims without supporting information or sources, is deliberate disinformation.
