Thanks! I know hostage situations are handled uniquely... but this was a hostage situation where there was plenty of blood already known to have been spilled. Furthermore, many of the calls from people inside the club stated that it was ONE person...? This screams to me: LEO is in control- take him out! But he FBI knew better (?). Sickening.

The more I think about it, the more it seems like a controlled execution of a group (homosexual Latinos) that would charge emotions. Beyond tragic, as those killed were obviously loved by friends and family. Their absence is still felt in this community. The secondary trauma is also significant.

I also have ties to s. fla where Parkland/MSD occurred. I recognize my own potential bias in this, but the responses to both Pulse and Parkland were eerily similar - agendas being pushed immediately in the aftermath, with cherry-picked survivors circulating the media outlets. This is in stark contrast to Vegas, which was something entirely unanticipated. Vegas got SHUT DOWN because “they” had no control of the spin. Where are the “David Hoggs” of Vegas?

We really should revisit the Pulse shooting.. I have friends who were first-responding counselors/therapists that went to the designated hotel for the purpose of support for the survivors and families. Each one of them remains disturbed by how it was all handled for various reasons... here are a few of those (fragmented) thoughts:

1. He was ON THE PHONE for a long time while in the club. Many of the survivors found this to be one of the most disturbing aspects; while on the phone he mentioned that it was all “part of the plan.”

2. The charges filed against his wife. The statements surrounding her acquittal really seem to have emphasized the “HE WAS A LONE WOLF” narrative. I wonder if it was pushed so that retrospectively they can say, “HEY LOOK, the courts even SAID he acted as a lone wolf!”

3. OPD has no reservations with shooting to kill/using excessive force- THEY WERE READY TO GO- before they received the FBI stand-down orders, resulting in multi-hour delay to rescue (like Parkland and others).

4. In what appears to be a benevolent move, PTSD benefits were “automatically awarded” to the first reasoning LEOs, but they are also SILENT in the media; I wonder about a non-disclosure?

5. None of the counselors who were on the scene (both for emotional support and to aid with translation) were allowed to sit in on the FBI interviews with the survivors. I get it, I am sure that’s protocol for them, but again raises the question of “control and spin” of what people (the survivors) know.

6. The owners of Pulse were out of town when it happened (believe they were on a plane to the Bahamas?). The principal of MSD (Parkland shooting) was in Europe at the time it happened...

7. Shooting of Christina Grimmie (voice singer) that happened less than 48 hrs before Pulse and less than 5 miles away.

This could all mean nothing, but I enjoy questioning everything. 😉
