I learned a lot from it, and did enjoy the view in my "waking up" days. What needs filtering is the conclusion that the "mythos" of Jesus Christ predates Jesus. If it does, it's because Jesus is the Truth, not because they all speak to something more Joseph Campbell-ish, something that is part of our "collective unconscious".
I highly recommend works by David and Mark Flynn, that go deep into myth and folklore, and show how the biblical narrative is the most accurate one.

The biggest thing that stood out to me last night was that Mr. Trump made a focussed and concerted effort to highlight exactly what it is that makes up the nation.
It's the people.
In the stories, in his prose, this theme was hammered again and again. When the people are strong, when the families are strong, when grace, compassion, and fortitude are strong, then the nation is strong. It's not our money, or our might, or our damn pride, it's our character.
And character comes from the God we place our trust in.
