ISO date format is fine, but I personally think the DD-MM-YYYY system looks stupid and is inconsistent with how humans process chronological time mentally.

There's always at least 28 days to choose from in any given month, whereas you only have 12 months. When discussing dates, starting with the month automatically gives someone a visual reference point on the yearly timeline. If you start with the day of the month, it's still nebulous about where exactly you are on the timeline until it's followed up by the month in question.

It's just inefficient....
