Believing that Mueller is targeting them is not unrealistic, given what's comes out.
Problem is, Mueller IS a swamp creature, and we don't know if he flipped or if he is still with the swamp.
If he hasn't flipped then he would want to "investigate" the podestas to help cover up. If something reaches the point that it must be investigated then the swamp conducts a sham investigation so that a real investigation isn't done (because the sham is treated as real).
