Why anons still on Alice? I thought Q confirmed what the Alice reference was?

Anyway, Snow White:

The original Snow White is a Brothers Grimm story first published in Grimms' Fairy Tales in 1812. No mention of seven dwarfs in the original title. The Evil Queen is Snow White's stepmother - the iconic line from the tale: 'Mirror mirror on the wall, who's the fairest of them all?'

Quick summary:

Snow White's mother dies during childbirth - hence the arrival of the stepmother. The talking mirror flatters the Evil Queen when asked 'Mirror mirror . . .' until one day, with Snow White grown up, the mirror reveals Snow White is the fairest. Incensed, the Evil Queen plans to do away with her stepdaughter, calling on a huntsman to take her into the forest, kill her, and harvest her organs as proof - which the Evil Queen will then serve up and eat. (Go cannibalism)

In the forest Snow White pleads with the huntsman to let her go - she flees deeper into the forest, he returns to the Evil Queen with the innards of a boar - which the Queen still consumes. In the forest, Snow White discovers the cottage of the seven dwarfs, where she ends up staying in return for housekeeping.

Back with the Queen, 'Mirror mirror . . .' the mirror reveals Snow White's survival, enraging the Queen even more. Through witchcraft, the Queen eventually poisons Snow White, leaving her in a coma, and being placed in a glass coffin by the dwarfs. Rescued and revived by a travelling Prince, it is on the day of her marraige to said Prince that Snow White re-encounters her stepmother - the Evil Queen - who, as punishment for her sins, is forced to dance to death in burning hot iron shoes.

It was only in subsequent theatre and film productions that 'Seven Dwarfs' was added to the title.
