In addition to the foreign policy "blob" there's also a whole cottage industry of former national security officials writing on blogs that tend to justify expanding executive authority and intelligence gathering. They usually end up focusing on legalistic process issues while accepting American hegemony/unilateralism without much question.

Lawfare is probably closest to the zeitgeist. The editor-in-chief is the kind of person who has "no problem with drone strikes" and is "positively enthusiastic about American surveillance policies", but their articles are usually well-written and informative if you're interested in the legality of a specific issue or just learning how these people think.
