I stumbled upon this story in Instagram about Snow White, Diamonds, Disney and Germany! Coincidence?

Disney story is reportedly based on a German fairytale by BrothersGrimm in 1812. A gemologist researched whether Snow White could be based on real life. After all, where did Disney come up with plot details?

In the story, dwarfs go to work at a "diamond mine" each day to find "Old European Cut Diamonds". The diamonds are size of gulf balls, which would be worth millions and millions of dollars in real life.

A German Scholar theorized that Snow White was about Maria Sophia Margaretha Catherina von Erthal who lived in the small town of Lohr Am Main Bavaria, Germany.. Her stepmother was crazy abusive and the girl escaped via Spessart Mountains (also known as the kingdom of seven dwarfs). Apparently an asteroid struck the souther region of Germany 15 million years ago leaving a diamond-filled crater. (There are no diamond caves in Germany). The asteroid was so large, forceful and high in pressure that the graphite-bearing gneiss rock in the region (near Nordlingen today) formed diamond. The impact reached 9 miles across the range of low wooded mountains.
