>WHAT THE FUCK ARE THEY INSANE?

yes

>what will happen when reelections will give similar results? Re-re elections?

Per protocol, yes. Very unlikely they'll let this happen a second time though.

Op has election results.

To form a functional government and to pass laws you need a majority in the parliment, thus a coalition between parties is the norm to get to at least 51% of the seats.

This time, since the second largest party in germany didn't want a coalition with our biggest party, which was the case the last 8 years, the largest party went and tried to form a coalition with 2 smaller parties.

But they have considerably big differences in ideology, but it held together for four weeks of negotiations.

Yesterday one of the smaller parties announced that it won't participate in the government anymore, thus the coalition does not have the majority in the parliment anymore.

The next steps are:

  1. The coalition forms a minority government, very unlikely since they wouldn't get amy laws passed

  2. If this is not the case the Bundespräsident need to appoint a Kanzler and he needs to be approved by a majority of the parliment

  3. If that won't happen the Parliment votes 2 more times on different cantidates for thr Kanzler position.

  4. If there is no agreement reached the Bundespräsident dissolves the government and reelections are helt
