I thought CIA was the largest middleman for poppy-related produce in the region. Or did I just dream the whole taliban ditch opium production, 9-11, USA invasion of Afghanistan, re-instatement of said opium production and US middle classes handed their asses via a opioid drug epidemic that echoes the crack epidemic in the 80s (by the CIA again). Was I dreaming?

Taliban stopped all opium production 4 months before 9-11. It took a CIA-orchestrated "event" to force the US Army to provide enough man-power to re-instate it.
