Well obviously, but there's a perfectly adequate surface network for that. If that tunnel is big enough that you're driving one into it it's a pretty fuckin long tunnel, too, which begs the question - where does it go and what's down there?

That's actually part of why the tunnel network is so intriguing to me. The islands in that area are known for copper, and perhaps there was an old mine on that island that they simply repurposed. It's easier to enlarge a hole that's already there than dig out a new one.
