I can (and will) claim anything I merry well want to. Such as being the Lord, Your God, and owner of your soul (which ironically makes me satan, but more on that when we get there).
Alas, I am generally more pragmatic as demanding fealty and whatnot just gets messy. When people know there is a god in front of them, they either come begging for handouts for their fellatio skills or desiring a challenge to prove they are the better god over all things.
It's a mess and more than I care to hassle with. So it's better you all believe whatever it is you want to.
Which is where evidence and other such things come in, but they are optional. Just because someone doesn't bother to evidence something, or because another claims that no amount of material obervance constitutes evidence does not mean things are false or lacking evidence in the real world.
Just because the guy claiming you have not discovered antigravity, by nosing the plane toward the ground, does not evidence his claims does not mean the plane will not come into contact with (at a high rate of speed) the long-forgotten ground of divine mythology.
Which is where my claimed role comes back into play. Those who don't understand the rules get remedial training until they learn not to walk off cliffs in the belief gravity makes exceptions for them, and other such amusing behaviors of the false gods.
