Spouseanon and I have been having to navigate the medical world with several non-elective surgical procedures.

I wish I had the ability to accurately record what we've been through.
Spouseanon is not ambulatory, so I wait in lines to receive a "disinfected" wheelchair to transport into the hospital.
We arrive at desks of receptionists who talk us through swiping our own medical cards and debit cards. (Why are they there? Necessary?)
Three-quarter of the patients don't speak English.
We're very hot in our mandated masks.
We're rechecked again for another co-pay for procedures which probably don't need an in-person visit.
Face shields and double masks on the nurses and doctors as last week.
Simple communication is nearly impossible, as everything sounds like mumbling by everyone under masks.
Compassion is hard to express with most of your face covered.
My spouse and I deserve to see their faces, read their expressions and have people providing care to us be able to tell us CLEARLY how our care is proceeding.
THE POWERS THAT BE HAVE SUCCEDED IN DEHUMANIZING OUR LIVES, AND OUR TIME LEFT ON THIS EARTH IS NOT LONG.
