Don't spend it all in one place…

Apple could pay you $25 as part of settlement for slowing phones

Some iPhone owners may be eligible to receive $25 from Apple.

Anyone who owns or owned any iPhone 6 that ran iOS 10.2.1 or later, or any iPhone 7 device that ran iOS 11.2 or later, before Dec. 21, 2017 could qualify for a payment as part of a $500 million settlement Apple agreed to in March following a wave of lawsuits in 2017 that accused the tech giant of slowing down the performance of older iPhone models in an effort to encourage customers to buy newer versions.

The U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California recently launched a website* that lets users request claims of up to $25 under specific requirements, according to tech news website CNET.

Users may be entitled to settlement benefits if they were a U.S. owner of "an iPhone 6, 6 Plus, 6s, 6s Plus, 7, 7 Plus, and/or SE device … that ran iOS 10.2.1 or later or, in the case of iPhone 7 and 7 Plus devices, that ran iOS 11.2 or later before December 21, 2017," the site states.

Users must have also experienced "diminished performance" on their iPhones in order to qualify for a payout.

Claims must be submitted by Oct. 6 for users to be eligible.

A Texas-based tech watchdog group released a document in July revealing Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, a staunch critic of big-tech, could sue Apple for violating trade practice laws by slowing older iPhones in an ongoing multi-state probe.

Barack Obama issues desperate private warning about Trump voters to top Democratic donors

Barack Obama has reportedly just warned top Democratic donors that this election is far from a lock for Joe Biden because President Donald Trump’s voters are “glued” to rightwing outlets like Fox News and Breitbart News.

Over the past two months, Obama has raised $24 million for Biden by having conversations with people like LinkedIn founder Reid Hoffman, actor George Clooney, as well as with top party leaders, according to The New York Times. Donors who have paid six-figure sums have been given the opportunity to watch these conversations on Zoom.

In these talks, Obama claimed that because the mainstream media doesn’t reach some Trump supporters, they can filter “out any contradictory information” by getting their news from Breitbart News, Fox News, and Rush Limbaugh.

“It’s just glued to Fox News and Breitbart and Limbaugh and just this conservative echo chamber — and so, they’re going to turn out to vote,” Obama reportedly said in a discussion with Illinois Democrat Governor J.B. Pritzker. “What he has unleashed and what he continues to try to tap into is the fears and anger and resentment of people who, in some cases, really are having a tough time and have seen their prospects, or communities where they left, declining. And Trump tries to tap into that and redirect in nativist, racist, sexist ways.”

The Times reported that Obama also has said that he sees Trump as a threat to American democracy, “even making an oblique reference to Nazi Germany” during one of the conversations.

“The endpoint of that we saw in Europe 60 years ago, 70 years ago — what happens when those things get unleashed,” Obama allegedly said in one of the conversations. “You don’t nip that in the bud, bad things can happen. Among the most ‘civilized societies.’”

One of the main things that Obama is adamant about with Biden donors is that they not take his chances at winning this election for granted.

“We already saw this guy win once,” Obama reportedly said. “After he bragged about physically assaulting women — and that didn’t seem to matter. So, enough said. Let’s get to work.”
