TIL that the Blue Angels were named for a Manhattan Night Club.
In the early jet age, pilots had good reason to fear the F7U

n November 1951, at Patuxent River Naval Air Station in Maryland, Lieutenant Commander Edward โWhiteyโ Feightner received the call he had been waiting for. On the line was an admiral from Naval Air Training Command, who told him he had been selected for the Navyโs flight demonstration squadron, which would eventually adopt the name the Blue Angels (after a Manhattan nightclub).
โItโs a big thing to get a Blue Angel position,โ says Feightner. โYou get the royal treatment, travel the country, get to meet a lot of good people, have fun at airshows, do some great flying and some valuable recruiting for the Navy. There are few better jobs.โ
Feightner had just one question: What airplane would the team fly?
โHe said the F7U-1 Cutlass,โ recalls Feightner, at the time a Navy test pilot with the most flight time in that very aircraft. โI told him I just resigned.โ

12/18/1975: Blue Angel Nightclub Fire - When a curtain catches fire at the Blue Angel nightclub, employees try to douse the flames with glasses of water and milk for almost a half-hour before calling 911. Their delay contributes to the deaths of 7 people. Sweeping fire code reform is enacted, mandating sprinklers in public establishments, emergency lighting and central alarm systems.

(Assuming that it is the same club because that fire is 24 years later) Could have been a different club altogether.
Any older NY anons know?
From covering their shit in the litter box to prancing on the kitchen counter. Not a good look. Toxiplasmosis.
I love all animals but temper my thinking with common sense when it comes to roommates. Dogs are the way to go.
