Thought: That AC is much newer and more fuel efficient. Also newer jets require less maintenance than older ones.

Could also be that this AC has some defensive counter measures that AF1 needs retrofitting for and so the SS has asked POTUS to use this for campaign stops.

Also smaller AC are quicker to service/turn around. Less time to refuel and service means shorter stops on the trail.
