The Council of Europe's (CoE) Commission for Human Rights has urged the Venice Commission to examine the "Stop Soros" law in Hungary, MER quoted CoE on Thursday, according to Agerpres.
The Commission was asked on 22 March to assess this law in the light of international human rights standards. Under the "Stop Soros" law, the Hungarian Interior Minister may ban civil "pro-migration" organizations if it is considered to pose a risk to national security, MTI recalls.
The report, prepared in cooperation with the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), is expected to be completed by the end of June.
The law in question will be on 7 May on the agenda of the first session of the new Hungarian parliament formed after Sunday's elections and won decisively by the formation of Prime Minister Viktor Orban.
