>they MUST act per constitution
>no choice in the matter
Human nature to search for choice until there is no more process of elimination. Procrastination sets in. This is at odds with duty, many times, when serving in uniform.
Logic, not emotion, leads. But emotion compells and sustains. Takes both to endure to successful outcomes.
Very sketchy ground full of hazards. But does the military leadership need public support shown before they act? Sometimes that leadership, particulary the politically inclined amongst that leadership, are highly risk averse in terms of non-combat decisions. Would a testing of the political waters, as it were, be expected BEFORE action is taken? The constitutional order is more an IDEA - especially today - than a fact on the ground.
The use of the military for power plays, which is what some will think it would be, has to be carefully figured, a projected path see and commitment made, at least by a core few, and then the rest moves into place. If it is recognized as a duty, first and foremost, then, nothing could stop it.
No politician's words and no judge's opinion. Not even majority public opinon as expressed via the MSM could stop it.
So really it is about be frightened of one's own shadow - and for good reason since that is a very daunting shadow the military power casts if this is the course of action projected as dutibound.
Not a game. So fuck game theory. Too much at stake to split the difference.
George WASHINGTON is fine example of decision-making when at the edge. Abe LINCOLN is a fine example of decisoin-making when over the line and fully committed. Be best now has a dangerous but powerfully moving force today.
