Dowd: I Struggle Between Laughing and Crying that Trump, CPAC Are Mainstream of GOP

Political analyst Matthew Dowd said Friday on MSNBC “Deadline” that he was struggling “between laughing with tears at this and crying with tears” that former President Donald Trump and his supporters at the 2021 Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) were now the mainstream of the Republican Party.

Referencing a joke by Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) during his CPAC speech, Dowd said, “I think he would have been better off quoting George Wallace because he would have gotten more applause than William Wallace. I mean, I g, this is like showing up at the P.T. Barnum Circus where you think, I can’t take my eyes off of what I’m seeing, but I feel bad about what I’m seeing simultaneously, that is what I feel like when we observe what is going on here. ”

He continued, “This should have been held at Roswell, New Mexico or Area 51. Without a touch of irony, they have the conference title is ‘Uncanceled,’ when they thought to cancel scientists, cancel medical experts, cancel the election results, cancel Joe Biden, and cancel the Constitution. So with no irony at all, they call the conference Uncanceled. For me, I could laugh. I could tune in and see it and be appalled at it. Ted Cruz, he makes this joke down there while people here still don’t have drinking water in Texas, while people don’t have places to stay and can’t find groceries. He makes a joke about Cancun in the midst of all of that.”

He added, “So I could chuckle at some of the things and laugh out of some sense of, like, bizarreness, but the dangerousness of this is amazing to me. And keep in mind that this is why the fungus or the mushroom of Donald Trump grew out and became what he became. Donald Trump didn’t change CPAC. CPAC is what fostered and fertilized what then became Donald Trump and the success of Donald Trump. So CPAC has now been mainstreamed in the Republican Party. You have senators and governors going there and the former president going there. But I really struggle between laughing with tears at this and crying with tears about it as the dangerousness of it effects our democracy.”

Hello, CPAC! Trump Is Still In Charge Here

Why do so many Americans, probably a majority of the 74 million who voted for him, view Donald Trump and Trumpservatism as their only hope? It’s a long story that the Republican establishment needs to be told again. And CPAC is the place to do it.

President Trump Incorporated is not really even a movement anymore. You can’t even call it a base of voters. Trump is a party now, with pragmatic and ideological planks that come under the designation “America First.” It is going to be very difficult, a decades-long task, to erase that cognitive political mantra from the collective consciousness of his supporters. Most Trumpservatives will pass to the great beyond fighting for Trump-era policies and principles. Thanks to the overreaching Democratic Socialists who’ve wrested power, new awakenings are occurring every day.

The Democrats’ biggest fear is that Trump will be elected again.

Any attempt to factor this out by the Never-Trump, RINO, Lincoln Project wing of the GOP is doomed. Even Mitt Romney admits that. The days of acquiescent Republican sub-parity and placement at the feeding trough are over.

If Republican leaders who bowed to The Donald’s ascendance in 2016 think that Trump-Mania has cooled off, they’ve got another thing coming. Everything that has happened since the businessman and TV star marched forth on his initial head-hunting expedition only confirms to his supporters that he is the only hope. And now there is a stalwart contingent of America First-aligned candidates, all the way down to the proverbial dog-catcher, for whom they will cast their ballots.

When people believe they only have one hope, they tend to become adamant about preserving it.

In the run-up to 2016, the Left persisted, right up until the eleventh hour, in treating Trump’s candidacy as a joke. They tried every gambit, the most pernicious of which was to cast Trump as a con man, to separate with disparagement Trump from his potential voter. There was a resonance for many in this ridicule because the former president had no political record run on. It was all taken by his supporters on gut instinct and faith.

After the election, the leftist Democrats brought out the biggest imaginable guns to take him out, and continue to this very day actions aimed at precluding his ever running for president again. This relentless attack mode only inculcates in the minds of Trump loyalists the idea that he was, is, the only hope. Though the issue of alleged election fraud has been sandbagged by the staggeringly-biased Biden/Harris media, it is imminently arguable now that certain states broke their own laws and defied the Constitution to manufacture an outcome in quest of the ultimate coup de grace. (Unfortunately, unless our election process is reformed, hope may be in vain.)

In 2020, Trump did have a record to run on, and for 74 million it was just what the doctor ordered. Never again can the Democrat machine paint him as an opportunistic, self-aggrandizing showman. He delivered, big league.

With every stroke of his pen, every radical appointment and bizarre, America-last policy dictate, Mr. Joe Biden is hastening the Democrats’ day of reckoning. It is uncanny, really, how clueless and coopted his proposed agenda seems to be. One analysis holds that the cadre of extremists in his administration is prepared to lose in 2022, but only after having instituted crushing socialistic policies that cannot be easily overturned.

Therein lies the rub. President Donald Trump and his allies are likely the only politicians who can effectively clean up the mess even two years of Democrat power will leave behind, let alone four. If you put that mess in the hands of, say, a Ben Sasse, or John Thune, or Jeb Bush—or even a Mitch McConnel, be prepared to live in it for the foreseeable future; they will fritter around the edges and the damage will be a leftist fait accompli.

Thomas Jefferson said, “A government that is big enough to give you everything you want, is big enough to take everything you have.” Thomas Paine said, “The duty of a true Patriot is to protect his country from the government.”

Taken together, those quotes sum up nicely where America finds itself today. For millions upon millions of citizens, Donald Trump, for all his supposed foibles, is the only man who can stop the former, and achieve the latter.

During the roiled summer of 2020, when antifa and BLM were laying siege to Blue City centers, Vice President Kamala Harris said about the violent agitators, “They’re not going to let up — and they should not. And we should not.”

She later claimed she was talking about the protests, not the riots, but had already tipped her hand by tweeting support for a Minnesota fund to bail out the worst of that city’s indiscriminate destroyers.

On January 6, 2021, President Trump enjoined those gathered to protest what they believed was a fraudulent election–a protest that regrettably devolved into a fatal debacle–to “peacefully and patriotically make their voices heard.”

The difference in the intent of the two enjoinments illustrates the difference faced by a voting public now considering who will carry the governmental torch into the future. Harris was intentionally tweeting support for the cause of ameliorating the punishments due those who had wreaked havoc in the streets. Trump was calling for a peaceful demonstration in objection to a perceived injustice that robbed the country of what many millions believe is possibly its last, best hope.

And that is why so many of our countrymen and women believe that Trump and his allies are the only hope for America. We don’t exactly know what the coming reset looks like, what it will promise, but it is coming.

Hello, CPAC! Thanks for listening.

Absentminded Joe Biden Accidentally Mails Stimulus Checks To Defense Contractors Instead Of Americans

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Joe Biden is getting on in years. He's no spring chicken anymore. Well, that means that once in a while he has a senior moment, and yesterday was no exception. Biden suddenly realized that he had accidentally mailed nearly a trillion dollars in stimulus money to defense contractors instead of sending the checks to Americans as promised.

"Whoops-a-daisy!" he said, smacking his forehead as he realized his error. "Did I do that? Wow, that was some real malarkey. Hoo boy, I'd forget my head if Jill wasn't around to make sure I kept it screwed onto my shoulders. Oh boy, you really stepped in it this time, Joey boy."

Biden quickly called the defense contractors to get the checks returned, but it was too late, as they had already cashed them, purchased a bunch of bombs, and shipped them over to the Middle East to get dropped on Syria.

"Oh, man. Oh, well. No harm, no foul, I guess! Say, what say you and I meet up at Camp David next weekend to play that video game? The one with the nice Italian fellow? Mario Buggies!"

The Thread That Shreds CNN's Fake News idiocy…And This Is Just the Tip of the Iceberg

Remember when Fox News’ Tucker Carlson ripped into the news media for spreading misinformation, specifically the drivel emanating from the offices of CNN? Well, we have some receipts documenting CNN's long history of disseminating fake news idiocy. Actually, it was done by Brent Bozell, the founder of the Media Research Center, which tracks liberal media bias. Newsbusters* doles out stories about the liberal media’s bad behavior daily. It’s the point of the lance within this organization. Since its inception, the MRC has recorded every major news broadcast since 1987. It’s now digitized, but whatever CNN has said that was pure applesauce, it will be recorded, filed, and found by this crew.

Carlson aptly noted that such misinformation has done more damage than conspiracy theories like Q’Anon ever could. Q’Anon is a favorite target of CNN and others for explaining how conservative America has supposedly lost its minds. You all know it’s liberal America that’s violent; these people burned down half the country last summer. He also cited the latest statistics on police shootings to show how misinformed liberals are on this topic—and the consequences it has brought.

Right now, Democrats want Fox News and a host of conservative outlets to be de-platformed or banned from certain cable carriers because…they don’t share their views on the issues. That’s the real reason. They say it’s because these outlets peddle misinformation. It’s puerile.

So, Bozell got digging and found these nuggets:

House Democrats are completely unhinged! This crusade to ban @FoxNews over “disinformation” is a complete joke. They’d change their crazy tune if they took a look at their beloved @CNN.

Here are just a few of the examples of CNN’s false content our @newsbusters team dug up:

— Brent Bozell (@BrentBozell) February 24, 2021

.@CNN promoted the false narrative that President Trump colluded with the Russians on an almost daily basis for TWO YEARS … so, the left wants to cancel Fox??

— Brent Bozell (@BrentBozell) February 24, 2021

.@CNN allowed the lie that President Trump called white supremacists “very fine people” to be repeated countless times over the last few years … so, the left wants to cancel Fox??

— Brent Bozell (@BrentBozell) February 24, 2021

.@CNN spent over an hour (on 9/16/18) spreading unverified allegations from the @nytimes against SCOTUS nominee Brett Kavanaugh, and later gave the Times correction only three minutes … so, the left wants to cancel Fox??

— Brent Bozell (@BrentBozell) February 24, 2021

CNN's @oliverdarcy excerpted a Trump comment as if he had referred to all immigrants as "animals" (on 5/16/18). The whole tape showed Trump referred specifically to the murderous criminal gang MS-13, not all immigrants … so, the left wants to cancel Fox??

— Brent Bozell (@BrentBozell) February 24, 2021

.@CNN mentioned 77 times (4/18) the absurd claim that there was a videotape of Trump paying prostitutes to urinate on each other, with words like "pee tapes" and “golden showers.” No such tape was ever found … so, the left wants to cancel Fox??

— Brent Bozell (@BrentBozell) February 24, 2021

.@CNN promoted false claims(on 11/16/20) by a South Dakota nurse that some of her coronavirus patients were so crazy they denied the virus was real even as they were dying. A completely fake story … so, the left wants to cancel Fox??

— Brent Bozell (@BrentBozell) February 24, 2021

CNN’s @BrianStelter had a psychiatrist on his show (8/25/19) to unleash the claim that Trump “may be responsible for many more million deaths” than Hitler, Stalin, and Mao. Of course he never examined Trump and Stelter offered zero pushback … so, the left wants to cancel Fox??

— Brent Bozell (@BrentBozell) February 24, 2021

.@CNN falsely reported (on 1/14/21) Rep. Ted Lieu grabbed a crowbar during the Capitol riot. He actually grabbed a ProBar energy bar … so, the left wants to cancel Fox??

— Brent Bozell (@BrentBozell) February 24, 2021

On 2/14/20, Anti-Trump attorney Michael Avenatti was convicted for extortion and wire fraud, but @CNN had put him on air 122 times and even considered him a viable presidential candidate … so, the left wants to cancel Fox??

— Brent Bozell (@BrentBozell) February 24, 2021

.@CNN reported (on 6/22/17) that Congress was investigating a "Russian investment fund with ties to Trump officials," especially Anthony Scaramucci. The report was later retracted, and three @CNN employees resigned in disgrace … so the left wants to cancel Fox?

— Brent Bozell (@BrentBozell) February 24, 2021

The one about Rep. Ted Lieu (D-CA) grabbing a Power Bar and not a crowbar during the January 6 Capitol Hill riot is peak CNN. But if misinformation has become an unforgivable sin that requires your eradication, then CNN is the real Sodom and Gomorrah. No, they haven’t been turned into pillars of salt…yet.

Who Hates Voters? AP Describes GOP Georgia Voter ID Bill as 'Restrictive Voting Measures'

"Georgia senators pass bill to require ID for absentee voting."

So how does the Associated Press feel about that? In the old days when AP attempted to maintain a dry neutrality in its reporting, that could have been a tough question to answer. However, in recent years, with their policy of editorializing right in their stories, AP slams its readers in the head with their viewpoint sledgehammer.

Such was the case on Tuesday when AP writers Jeff Amy and Ben Nadler editorialized in the very first sentence of their story:

ATLANTA (AP) — The Georgia Senate on Tuesday pushed through the first batch of what could be a raft of restrictive voting measures Republican lawmakers say will safeguard voting but Democrats decry as based on a lie and aimed at overturning their party’s recent electoral success in Georgia.

"Restrictive voting measures." Of course, AP could have just as easily described the bill as a "ballot integrity" effort. But knowing where AP is coming from, that would not be an option. It has to have the aura off "voter suppression." They have to paint the Republicans as a dying party trying to hang on to relevance by "restricting" the right side of history, and the Democrats as the party that's pro-voter, pro-democracy. Voter fraud? Doesn't exist.

When you read the story, it sounds rather reasonable since it is just applying the same standards to absentee ballot applications as is currently applied to in-person voting:

The most important measure passed was Senate Bill 67, which carried on a largely party-line 35-18 vote. It would require that a voter include their driver’s license number, other state identification number or a photocopy of an approved ID when applying for an absentee ballot. That would replace the current process of signature verification, one of the key elements former President Donald Trump and others attacked following Trump’s November loss in Georgia.

…Supporters said anyone who votes in person in Georgia has to show identification, and that absentee voters should do the same. Walker said submitting an identification would work for 97% of voters and said the other 3% could vote in person, saying he wanted to get county elections “out of the middle” of verifying signatures.

Even the liberal Atlanta-Journal Constitution conceded that such a bill is popular with Georgia voters:

Nearly three-quarters of Georgia voters said they support proposals requiring photo ID or other documentation to cast an absentee ballot, according to a poll conducted in January for The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Voters also find requiring photo ID reasonable at regular voting, too. But this is one issue where reporters don't care about what the polls say.
