In an unexpected move, Dr. Tedros, the WHO chief, said the theory that the coronavirus emerged accidentally from a lab in China required further investigation and that he was ready to deploy more experts to do so
"I do not believe that this assessment was extensive enough,” he said on Tuesday about an expert team's finding that a lab leak was unlikely. “Further data and studies will be needed to reach more robust conclusions.”
Dr. Tedros also acknowledged concerns about China’s refusal to share raw data about early Covid-19 cases. He said he hoped future studies would include “more timely and comprehensive data sharing.”
